Punjab Home Ministry issues Eid security plan across the province

Lahore, March 17, 2026 The Punjab Home Ministry has issued comprehensive security directives on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, directing authorities to ensure foolproof three-layer security arrangements across the province.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Ministry, the spokesperson said that Eid al-Fitr (1 Shawwal 1447 AH) is expected to fall on March 20 or 21, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon, and all necessary measures must be taken to maintain peace and security.

Under the directives, strict monitoring of mosques and imams will be ensured, with additional deployment of security personnel. A single point of entry system will be implemented in major places of worship, while special pickets will be set up in sensitive locations with personnel equipped with protective equipment.

The administration directed that traffic gates, surveillance cameras and metal detectors be installed in places of worship, and all individuals entering must undergo physical examination. Police personnel will also be deployed for women, while special branches and bomb disposal teams will conduct the necessary clearance operations.

Police have been instructed to carry out effective sweeping operations around mosques and imams, while special attention will be paid to security in hotels, restaurants, Eid markets and public places.

The Spokesman stressed the strict implementation of the ban on objectionable speech, misuse of loudspeakers and display of weapons, as well as close monitoring of the banned organizations and individuals listed on List IV. table.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic, the authorities have been directed to develop comprehensive traffic plans, while designated parking areas will be created at a safe distance from assembly points.

The administration also directed the establishment of security checkpoints at all entry and exit points between cities and governorates, and to make special arrangements to protect religious and political figures as well as entertainment venues during the Eid holiday.

All relevant departments, including Rescue 1122, Civil Defense and Health Department, have been placed on high alert, with instructions for timely information exchange among stakeholders to prevent any untoward incidents.

Punjab Home Department has also directed all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, CCPO Lahoreand RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to ensure strict implementation of the security plan, while district administrations have been asked to establish control rooms linked to the Central Control Room of the Ministry of Interior.
