Lahore (Urdu Point / Pakistan Point News – 15 March 2026) Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) on Sunday urged Pakistan Trade Development Authority (TDAP) and Export Development Fund (EDF) to provide financial assistance for organizing the International Handmade Carpet Exhibition in Pakistan. Lahore This year, the 80/20 support system will be restored to participate in international exhibitions abroad.

In this regard, PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiqur Rahman and Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmed chaired a meeting here at the association office. Carpet Training Institute (CTI) Chairman Ijaz Ur Rahman, Senior Member Usman Ashraf, Major (Retd) Akhtar Nazir, Saeed Khan and others were also present.

The meeting discussed in detail the impact of the tense situation in the region on exports. Approval of VAT by Punjab Government; interruption of supplies of partially finished raw materials needed for the manufacture of handmade carpets; And other related issues.

Chairman Mian Atiqur Rahman and Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmad said that planning has been initiated to organize the Pakistan Carpet Expo 2026, which aims to promote Pakistani handmade carpets in the global market and increase local exports.

This exhibition will prove to be an effective platform to supply foreign buyers, importers and global traders with quality products of Pakistani carpets.

It is appealed that immediate funding be announced through TDAP and EDF for the organization of the World Expo so that preparations can proceed effectively.

They said that in recent years, the handmade carpet industry has faced problems such as increasing production costs, declining exports, and limited participation in international trade fairs.

They pointed out that organizing a global exhibition with government sponsorship and financial support will play an important role in restoring global confidence in Pakistani carpets and obtaining new export orders.

The association also stressed the need to immediately restore the 80/20 support system for participation in foreign exhibitions, considering that it will allow carpet exporters the opportunity to participate in international exhibitions as well as access global markets.
