PESHAWAR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5 Mar, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday said that strong cooperation between Parliament, law enforcement agencies and civil society is essential to effectively combat terrorism and its financing.
Addressing a regional dialogue titled “Parliamentary Role and Institutional Capacity Building against Combating Terrorism and Terrorism Financing” organized by the Sustainable Social Development Organization here at a local hotel as chief guest, the Governor said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained on the frontline of Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.
He said that the people of the governorate, the police and the security forces made unprecedented sacrifices in order to restore peace.
The event was attended by SSDO Executive Director Syed Kausar Abbas, parliamentarians, representatives of law enforcement agencies, members of civil society, academics and other stakeholders.
The Governor expressed his appreciation to the SSDO and the British High Commission for jointly organizing the dialogue Peshawar On an important topic, especially in a governorate greatly affected by terrorism.
He said Pakistan It has developed a strong legal and institutional framework to combat terrorism and terrorist financing, adding that the role of regional institutions is equally important for the effective implementation of these policies.
Faisal Karim Kundi said elected representatives, especially from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, must play an active role in legislation, policy-making and oversight to ensure that counter-terrorism efforts advance in line with democratic principles and the rule of law.
He said that security measures alone are not enough to eliminate terrorism and extremism, stressing the need to address the root causes through educationCommunity participation, social awareness and comprehensive development.
The governor expressed hope that the recommendations emerging from the dialogue would help strengthen the policy-making process, institutional coordination and efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the province.
He urged all stakeholders to work together to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous country in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan.
