According to the spokesman, two suspects on a motorcycle opened fire on the policemen when the latter signaled for them to stop during a surprise search in the Wa Sadr area. The officers responded and were able to arrest one of them while he was injured, while his partner fled under the cover of darkness.
The spokesman said that the arrested suspect was Imran, who he said was involved in several cases of robbery, theft and vehicle theft.
The police also found a motorcycle that had been kidnapped from a citizen at gunpoint the day before, in addition to a weapon from the suspect.
During the exchange of gunfire, a bullet also hit Police Chief Adel; The spokesman added that he was not harmed by the bulletproof vest.
Immediately upon receiving information about the incident, police officers, reinforced by a large contingent of police, arrived at the scene and began a search operation in the area to track down the fleeing suspect and arrest him. The injured suspect was taken to the hospital.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani praised Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Taxila and Wah Sadr Police for bravely confronting the armed suspects and recovering the kidnapped motorcycle and weapon.
