Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – March 6, 2026) Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), in collaboration with Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (MCR), carried out an anti-encroachment operation along Sadiqabad Road on Friday, demolishing illegal sheds and roadside structures to restore traffic flow and public space.

The operation was carried out based on the directives of Rawalpindi Commissioner and Director General of Rawalpindi Development Authority, Engineer Amer Khattak, according to an official statement.

During the drive, the RDA enforcement squad, with the assistance of MCR personnel, removed unauthorized sheds, roadside platforms and other encroachments that were obstructing the road and pedestrian movement.

Officials also sensitized shop owners on the need to maintain public spaces and strictly comply with approved building plans and regulations.

Authorities said the operation aims not only to remove illegal structures, but also to improve pedestrian movement, ease traffic congestion and promote a cleaner and more organized urban environment.

The authorities warned of strict legal action against repeat violators, stressing that the illegal occupation of public lands will not be tolerated.

Such operations form part of broader efforts to modernize urban infrastructure, reduce congestion and improve the overall appearance of the city, the RDA said. Citizens were encouraged to report illegal constructions through the RDA hotline to help ensure timely action.

The process was supervised by Director of Lands and Implementation Officer Ghazanfar Ali Awan. Building Surveyor Aamer Mehmood Malik, along with RDA enforcement officers and Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation officials.
