The Secretary reviews the administrative and financial affairs of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation

QUETTA (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6 March 2026) Secretary, Department of Local Government and Rural Development Abdul Rauf Baloch reviewed the administrative, financial and development affairs of Metropolitan Corporation Quetta.

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister Abdul Rauf Baloch to strengthen local governance in line with the overall vision of Prime Minister Mir Sarfraz Khan Bugti and the commitment of the regional government.

The meeting was attended by Director Mujibur Rahman Qambrani, Secretary of the Local Government blackboard Shujaat Ali, senior officials including Waheed Badini, Taha Jind, Assistant Director Nisar Khan Zuhri, Chief Metropolitan Officer (CMO), and other officials of the local government department and the corporation.

The officials provided a detailed explanation of the institution’s performance, including administrative affairs, financial management, ongoing development projects, and civil services.

Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch stressed the need to improve sanitation systems, timely provision of municipal services and strengthen civic amenities. He stressed that providing a clean and healthy environment is an essential responsibility of the institution, warning against tolerance of negligence.

During the meeting, the progress of work in the Al-Safa area was reviewed Quetta Sanitation initiative and discussion of challenges and future plans.

The minister directed officials to make the project more effective to significantly improve cleanliness across the city.

Participants examined the status of grant funds, emphasizing transparent use and prioritization of urban services and sanitation and timely completion of development projects.

Administrative issues related to senior officials in four newly established cities were also discussed under the company, with an emphasis on transparency and accountability.

The session addressed the delay in official correspondence and pending matters. Proposals to purchase modern sanitation machines, formulate service rules, and establish a committee to review legal and administrative processes were considered.

Personnel issues were discussed, including salaries and pensions. The proposals included a 10 percent dedicated relief allowance, a 7 percent pension increase, and annual increases. Human resources data was also reviewed to ensure effective use of the workforce.

Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch directed the authorities to enhance sanitation across Quetta and take emergency measures to remove accumulated waste. He reiterated the need to use funds transparently and complete projects within deadlines, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s directives to improve municipal services and strengthen local governance.
