Hyderabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5 April, 2026) A suspected street criminal and a suspected drug peddler were shot dead before being arrested in separate encounters that took place in the limits of Bhittai Nagar and Saki Bir police stations. Police spokesperson Inspector Shahid Usman informed here on Sunday that Bhittai Nagar police were involved in a shootout by 3 suspected street criminals near Alamdar Chowk in Qasimabad. He added that one of the suspects, Nizar Chandio, was shot in the leg and fell from their motorcycle, but his two accomplices succeeded in fleeing the scene. Chandio, who has already been booked in two FIRs at Baldia and Qasimabad police stations, was taken to Liaquat University Hospital for surgery for his gunshot wound.
The spokesman said another confrontation took place near Sattar Shah Cemetery between a team from Sakhi Pir police station and two suspected drug peddlers. According to him, the suspect who was booked in 7 FIRs of Sakhi Pir and Souq police stations, Muhammad Shahid Qureshi, was shot during the gunfight but his aide managed to escape. The inspector informed that 3 more FIRs were registered for assault on police, and more than 2 kg of hashish and an unlicensed pistol were recovered against Qureshi who was taken to LUH for surgery.
